The innovative new way to care for your mouth health
We’re all aware of the part our gut microbiome plays in our health. What we might not be so familiar with is that just like the gut, the mouth has a microbiome which is home to millions of good and bad bacteria. The good bacteria play an important role in keeping your mouth, teeth and gums healthy, but every day the things we eat, drink, and breathe introduce new bad bacteria which can cause an imbalance in the mouth. This results in a range of issues from bad breath, to sensitive gums or even the recurrence of a sore throat.
Over the past 30 years, New Zealand Professor John Tagg has been researching probiotic strains in order to uncover the good bacteria that keeps the mouth healthy and find ways to help support your natural immune system. His breakthroughs have led to the development of a range of mouth and throat probiotics from BLIS Probiotics, which when taken daily, help to restore the optimal balance of good bacteria in the mouth.
Our purpose is based on the belief that the mouth is the gateway to the body, it’s where the majority of illness-causing germs enter the system. This is why our range concentrates on increasing the good bacteria in your mouth, increasing its ability to ward off illness.
How does it work?
Taking the form of a lozenge or powder, BLIS Probiotics use the warmth of the mouth to wake up the bacteria, allowing it to get to work colonizing good bacteria in your mouth.
BLIS Probiotics use two key strains of bacteria - Streptococcus salivarius K12 (BLIS K12™) which can target the “bad” bacteria responsible for Group A strep, which can lead to tonsillitis or pharyngitis, and Streptococcus salivarius M18 (BLIS M18™) which crowds out bad bacteria that can cause issues with teeth and gums, and produces antimicrobial “bullets” that destroy pathogens that are responsible for tooth decay and gum disease. BLIS M18™ also produces a number of enzymes that assist with neutralizing acid and help reduce the build-up of plaque.
- Protects your teeth and gums by preventing gingivitis and plaque build-up as part of your daily oral hygiene routine.
- Helps to balance the bacteria in your mouth, minimizing and preventing bad breath.
- Helps prevent & reduce risk of infections such as sore throats (pharyngitis/tonsillitis) & reduce frequency of upper respiratory infections.
- Helps support your child’s immune system, preventing sore throats (pharyngitis/tonsillitis) and otitis media (ear infections).
Our range of probiotics are founded on the pioneering science of New Zealand Professor, John Tagg. Suffering rheumatic fever as a child led to him embarking on a fifty year journey to create preventative health solutions.
